Archives for timelapse

From The Sunrise To The Sunset.

Well I woke up early yesterday and as I was making my breakfast I decided to set up my camera on my HUGE balcony and shoot sunrise timelapse. While doing that I remembered that I had set up crappy webcam on inside my window frame. In here, Finland we usually have three layer windows to keep the warm air inside the house and cold outside, so there is plenty of room and it ain’t that cold for the webcam. So, I started OBS and started streaming live feed of said timelapse shooting. Which is basically static image of camera and blown out sky moving from east to west.

Now I woke up early to catch a sunrise timelapse again and I thought what the heck and started streaming again:

Oh, and the yesterday’s timelapse:

360° video timelape of a sunrise

When I am shooting sunrise timelapse I am always puzzled by which direction should I shoot, to sunrise, side of sunrise or from sunrise. Now I’ve tested a 360° video cam: 360fly cam and it can be done to shoot everydirection at once and viewer can pick and choose which way to watch the sunrise. 360fly hasn’t the best IQ but for the price it’s pretty good, and easy to use. It has own software 360 Director which can upload straight to Facebook or Youtube or 360fly’s own website for sharing. Best part is that you can directly upload to youtube and it works great.

For this timelapse I had to export video from 360 Director to hard drive then import it to Adobe Premiere where I speeded up the video quite much and then export it to hard drive again and import it back to 360 Director. From where I export it straight to youtube.

Frost smoke from the sea

It was really cold morning on 5th of January and sea wasn’t frozen completely and as the air was cold than the sea heat rose from the sea and formed frost smoke. I shot this with my Nikon D7100 with 3 sec interval. Edited with LRTimelapse and Lightroom CC. Although it could have been a bit wider but in other hand it could have been much tighter too. Yes, it’s possible to crop those shots later as D7100 makes 6000 by 4000 resolution images and I only use 1920 by 1080.

Sunrise time lapse over Helsinki

It was supposed to rain this morning and actually it did start to rain when I left home to work. I drove to work instead of bicycling. If I had bicycled I wouldn’t had chance to shot this since it took me only 15 min to drive from home to work as it would have taken 35 min to bicyle, I would have been 15 min too late. I’m glad I did take the car.
